Last week, I informed you about numerous summer activities for youth in New Haven. Here's another great option to add to the list! Camp New Haven is a completely free camp for any New Haven resident between the ages of 8 and 12. Camp New Haven runs July 1-August 2 from 8 am to 5 pm on Monday through Friday (no camp on July 4th). Camp New Haven features swimming, hiking, weekly trips and presentations by expert speakers. Transportation, breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack are provided. This Sunday at Lighthouse Park Carousel: the 13th Annual Lead Awareness Picnic The New Haven Health Department’s Bureau of Environmental Health is teaming up with the Yale Lead and Healthy Homes Program to host the 13th Annual Lead Awareness Picnic in the Lighthouse Park Carousel Building on Sunday, June 9th, from 11:00AM to 3:00PM. This free community event aims to educate local families about childhood lead poisoning prevention through educational booths, giveaways and entertainment that parents and children of all ages can enjoy. New Project Storefront Entrepreneur to Preview this Friday! The latest Project Storefront entrepreneur will be artist Sara Scranton, her company, Lipgloss Crisis, will be a combination art gallery, event space and retail shop featuring locally made goods. The grand opening of Scranton’s Project Storefront is on June 15th, but this Friday’s “On 9” will feature a preview—along with live jazz and light refreshments.
